It was approx 7 AM when we woke up from our deep sleep. The previous day was very hectic( Read previous entry of the this journey: Awaiting to reach Jageshwar the spiritual and mystical place). My mother was now feeling better. It was a chilly morning. we decided to take our breakfast after visiting temple. At 9 AM we reached the temple compound which has 125 temples surrounded by deodar trees. We purchased a poojan thali from the nearby shop outside from the temple. Over a period of time, lot of shops are built around Jageshwar temple. There was a board with the information of how should visit the temple complex at the temple entrance.
We had to remove our footwear, there is a shoe storage at the entrance of the temple. As I entered the compound, It was surprising that how can it be so cold floor. Dherya had climbed in my lap. There are less people as it was too early time. After doing worship, I took out my camera to capture the beauty of this old temple. The walk in the compound was breathtakingly beautiful, It seems that temple is in lap of the deodar forest.
The Jageshwar Mahadev and maha Mritunjaya are the main temples in the complex. The two dwarapalas (door guardians) outside the jageshwar temple looks beautiful.
Other temples are dedicated to Surya dev, Navadurga, Kalika, Pushtidevi, Kuber and kedarnath. You can see a stone lingam in most of the temples. Priests are helpful and polite however they can try you to offer prayers into each temple and then demands some money. But you can refuse them. I didn’t notice anything wrong with this behavior.
Temple campus is large, it seemed to me that I am walking around the street of the temples. There is a very old tree, some says that the tree is hundreds of years old.
After a while the sound of the drum was coming over there. I eagerly looked towards the gate of the temple. There were some peoples with newly married couple. Then I remembered there was a wedding ceremony in the village last night. we were lucky because we got the chance to see such a traditional ceremony.
There were two men wearing traditional clothes with the red colored turban and two swords. Both were dancing on a melodious folk song. Some children were also following them. It was very joyful moment.
After spending some time around amazing temples, it was time to go. It was eleven and two hours had been passed. We had decided to leave Jageshwar in the noon. We had a plan to visit the Chittai golu temple and Almora zoo and do some shopping in Almora market. There is also a museum but me missed that. After reaching our guest house, we took our break fast and returned to our room.
After some time we were ready to move so I called Anthony bhai and we went back to Almora. It was a quiet afternoon.
